Rubbings
Materials
■ coins
crayons
paper (thin)
scissors
- Place a coin on a flat surface. Place a piece of thin paper on top
of the coin. Hold the paper in place with one hand and rub the side
of a crayon over the paper. As you rub, the design on the coin will
appear on the paper.
Move the paper and make another rubbing of the coin. Place other coins
next to the one under the paper and continue rubbing.
- Look around the house and outdoors for other patterns to rub. Window
screens and pieces of wood have interesting patterns. Make a
collection of rubbings, cut them out, and mount them in a scrapbook.
