Sweet and tasty seed packages
Anything that grows on a plant and has seeds inside it is a fruit. A
fruit is really just a package with one or more plant seeds in it.
Many kinds of fruits are good to eat. Apples, oranges, pears, peaches,
plums, and dates are sweet seed packages that come from trees.
Blueberries, gooseberries, strawberries, raspberries, and huckleberries
are the seed packages of shrubs. Grapes, cranberries, and watermelons
are the seed packages of vines.
Cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, and tomatoes are tasty packages of seeds,
too. Even though we call them vegetables, they are really fruits!
