SHOWER FOR A GIANT OR TWO
The Niagara Falls are two falls.
The American Falls are on the left in this picture, and the Horseshoe
Falls in Canada are on the right.
Niagara Falls would be a great place for a giant to take a shower. In
fact, two giants could take a shower at Niagara Falls because there are
two Niagara Falls. That’s because the Niagara River splits. Part of the
water of the river runs over Horseshoe Falls in Canada. The rest of the
water runs over the American Falls in the state of New York.
You’re not as tall as a giant, but you can go right up to the falls. You
go in a steamboat called The Maid of the Mist.
As the boat gets close to the falls, the roar of the falling water is so
loud that you have to shout to be heard. And you can see that the water
breaks into tiny drops of mist as it thunders over the falls. If you
look up from the deck of The Maid of the Mist at the right time, you
can see the sun making a bright rainbow above the falls.
