KING ON THE COAST
He sits on a rock throne in the center of a cave and barks and bellows
and growls. He is the grumpy sea-lion king who rules over the other sea
lions.
During the winter months, sea lions gather and live in caves on the
Pacific coast near Florence, Oregon.
The sea lions may be fun to watch, but you can\’t trust
them—especially if you’re a fisherman. That’s because sea lions are so
good at stealing fish from fishermen’s nets, traps, and lines.
But fishermen aren’t the only people who watch the sea lions. Every
year, people visit the Oregon coast just to watch the noisy herd of sea
lions and their grumpy king.
