GO TO THE GALAPAGOS

Can you imagine a tortoise that weighs 500 pounds (225 kilograms) and is
4 feet (1.2 meters) long? You can see a giant tortoise this size if you
visit the Galapagos Islands. The Galapagos Islands are part of Ecuador
and are in the Pacific Ocean near the mainland of Ecuador.

The giant tortoises, which can live more than 100 years, are found only
on the Galapagos Islands. These islands are also home to another reptile
that can be found no other place in the world. The marine iguana, a
large lizard, lives on the island, but it dives into the ocean to eat
seaweed.

A Sally Lightfoot crab hitches a ride on a marine iguana in the
Galapagos Islands.
