The secret shape

was a fivesided pyramid made of five same-sized equilateral triangles.
The bottom of such a shape is a pentagon! To get their secret symbol,
they traced around the bottom of the shape. Then they drew diagonal
lines from each of the corners. This made a pentagram with a small
pentagon in the middle.
Five equal-sided triangles will fit together to make a solid
shape—one with length, width, and thickness. The bottom of this
shape forms a five-sided shape called a pentagon.
Because the pentagon and pentagram were secret shapes, a lot of people
thought there was something magical about them. Many years later, when
The Brotherhood was no more, people believed it had been a secret
society of magicians. But, of course, the members of The Brotherhood
weren’t making magic when they drew their special symbol. They were
studying mathematics!
