Rebus riddles
A rebus is a puzzle in which pictures, letters, or numbers stand for
words or parts of words. But here’s a kind of rebus with a new twist. To
work this kind of rebus, you add or subtract letters to find the answer.
After you’ve added or subtracted the letters, look at the word you have.
Say this word aloud two or three times and you’ll hear the answer. And
here’s a clue—the answer to each rebus is the name of an animal.
For example:
Tie plus girl is tiegirl. Tiegirl minus L is tiegir,
or—tiger! See?
Now, see if you can find the rest of the animal names by yourself. The
answers are on page 21.
