Four
If you think of four as four dots, you can show the dots as a square.
And that’s how the ancient Greeks thought of four—as a shape with four
sides and four corners.
Four is an even number. It can be separated into two equal parts. To the
ancient Greeks, justice was a problem that had two equal sides. So the
Greeks used four, with its two equal parts, as a symbol for justice.
People of long ago believed that the world was flat, and they spoke of
the “four corners” of the earth. And four is the number of the
directions, north, south, east, and west.
The color of four is said to be green. Four is also said to belong to
the star group that is called Cancer, the Crab.
