Stool
Materials
Square one end of the 1 x 10 and the 1 x 4 pine boards (see
squaring, page 202).Cut the pieces for the stool. Measure and saw one piece at a time
(see sawing, page 202).
Use the 1 x 10 for the top and legs. For the top, cut off a piece 14
inches (35 cm) long. Cut off two pieces, each 8 inches (20 cm) long, for
the legs.
Use the 1 x 4 for the crosspieces. Cut off two crosspieces, each 14
inches (35 cm) long.
- Sand all the pieces (see sanding, page 203).

- Attach the legs to the top of the stool, as shown. Use both glue
and 4d finishing nails. Place the nails about 2 inches (5 cm) apart
Wipe off any glue that squeezes out of the joints. Let the glue
dry.
Attach the crosspieces to the legs and top of the stool, as shown.
Use both glue and 4d finishing nails. Place the nails about 2 inches

the glue dry.Put a finish on your stool (see finishing, page 203).
You can use your stool when you watch television or when you want to
reach high places. If you use wider crosspieces, you can make a box.
