Glove puppet
A glove puppet is a hand puppet with a body that looks like a funny
glove. Use the outline on this page to make a pattern for a glove
puppet.
1 Fold a piece of tissue paper in half. Place the fold along the
edge of the page. Trace the outline. Add about 4 inches (10 cm) to the
bottom of the pattern. Keep the paper folded and cut along the lines.
2 Open the pattern and pin it to a doubled piece of cloth. Cut out
the shape.
3 Glue the two pieces of cloth together with the right sides facing.
Place dabs of glue, as shown by the dotted line, on the edges of the top
and sides of one cloth piece. Stick the pieces of cloth together. Let
the glue dry.
4 Make little cuts along the edge of the cloth, up to the glue line,
as shown. Turn the cloth so the right sides are out.
5 Draw a face with felt-tip pens, or use one of the stitches on page
157. Or, glue on pieces of felt. Add yarn hair (see page 267).
- Stuff the head with toilet tissue or cotton balls. Wind a rubber
band or tie a string around the neck. Leave the neck loose enough so
you can push your first finger into the head.
