Stand-out pictures

The pages in this book are flat and smooth. So are the pictures on the
pages. But if you look at the picture pairs on the opposite page in a
special way, the things in them will seem to stand out from the page.
All you need is a small mirror and a little bit of patience.

Lay the picture page on a table, directly in front of you. Look at the
first pair of pictures. Hold the mirror up to the right side of your
nose, and look into it with your right eye. Move the mirror until you
can see the right-hand picture in it.

Now look at the left-hand picture with your left eye. Keep your right
eye on the picture in the mirror, and tilt the mirror slowly to the
left. With practice, you can make the two pictures slide together until
they are perfectly matched. Then you will see one picture that looks
\”real.”
