Underground palaces
Imagine you are riding clown an escalator. Suddenly you are deep
underground. Instead of a dark, damp place, you are in a magnificent
room. It might be the inside of a palace. Where are you? You are in a
subway station in Moscow in Russia.
Polished marble floors reflect the beautiful lights that hang from a
decorated ceiling. Paintings cover the walls. Statues, stained-glass
windows, and splashing fountains are everywhere.
Subway stations don’t have to be dark and damp. Some of the stations in
Moscow are so grand, people often visit them just to look around.
