When I am grown (boy)

When I am grown (boy)

I am a little boy now. But one day I will be a man.

When I am grown, there will be hair on my face. If I don’t want a beard,
I’ll have to shave every day. I’ll be bigger and stronger than I am now.

When I am a man, I may want to get married and have children.

I’m not ready to be a father now. My body is not ready to help make a
new life begin. But the parts of me that I will need to be a father are
a part of my body right now. They are growing up with me.

Below my penis is a soft sack of skin called a scrotum. Inside my
scrotum are two small organs called testicles. The testicles make sperm
cells. When a sperm cell joins with a female egg, a new life may begin.

One day I’ll be able to be a father. I’ll love my children as much as my
father and mother love me. I’ll be as proud of my children as my parents
are of me. I will do my best to take good care of my family.

I think I will like that.
