My feelings

My feelings

How shall I tell someone what makes me happy? Or what makes me sad?

I’ll make up a poem. I’ll choose from all the words I know, the ones
that tell exactly how I feel. I’ll put them side by side in rows. Then
anyone can read or say their singing sounds aloud.

My Feelings

Crying For Food

Stop! Stop! Stop crying! Oh boy, what a noise! Why are they crying?

They are crying all morning, Just crying and crying.

I just can’t do anything.

I do very funny things To make them stop crying. But still crying,
crying, Just can’t make them stop. They are hungry.

Fred Tow, Age 9, California

I am fainty,

I am fizzy,

I am floppy.

Paul Thompson, Age 6, New Zealand

Home

Home is a place in which to be loved, Cared for, and understood.

Home is a place in which you talk To your family and sisters and
brothers.

Home is where, when you don’t understand, You can talk it over with your
family.

Home is loving and

Loving is home.

Happiness

Happiness is that good feeling, When somebody inside Pulls that magic
string And things start brightening.

The church bells ring.

Children sing.

That’s what happiness is!

Alayne Dean, Age 9, New York

Maureen True, Age 8, California

Sadness

You are sad when you are lonely.

You are sad when you have no one to talk to.

You are sad when no one likes you.

David Schlotzhauer, Age 7, New York

A painting by Jed Kreinberg, Age 9, Illinois
