This sheep is ready to be sheared. Its wool coat is thick and heavy.
The wool is carefully sheared off in one piece. This doesn’t hurt the
sheep.
Sheep
These sheep have had their wool sheared off. The wool will soon begin to
grow again.
Meat and cloth
Sheep are important. Clothes, blankets, and many other things are made
from their wool.
There are big flocks of sheep on farms in many parts of the world. Once
or twice a year, all the sheep have their wool cut off. This is called
shearing. The wool is sent to factories where it is made into cloth.
We get food from sheep, too. Leg of lamb, lamb chops, and mutton come
from sheep.
French Angora Rabbit
Angora rabbit fur is used to make fine, soft cloth.
