Life on earth changes

Life on earth changes

I am young. But the world is old. Each day it changes. It becomes more
crowded with people and things. By the time I have grown up, many things
will change. Some things will even disappear. New things will take their
place.

Before I grow old, I may not live above the ground, but deep inside a
mountain. There I will push buttons to get the air, light, and heat I
must have to live. I may take a trip to the moon. I may live on a
satellite far out in space. Maybe I’ll live in a great plastic bubble at
the bottom of the sea. Much of the food I eat may come from special
farms in the sea. Gold and copper may come from mines in the sea instead
of from mines on land.

My children may go to a school that is different from the one I now go
to. Perhaps they will not go to a school at all. Instead they may study
their lessons from a big television screen on a wall in our house. I may
sit at a television desk and read any book I choose from any library in
the world.

The world and the people and things in it will change. But things that
seem strange to me today will no longer be that way. My five senses will
always help me fit into the world around me.
