The first time I went to school, my mother walked with me.
At school, I learned many things, including the names of colors.
The first day
Going to school on the first day of the new school year is always
exciting. I wake up early in the morning. I’m too excited to eat much of
my breakfast. I don’t want to be late for school.
What will my new teacher be like?
What will my new room be like?
Where will I sit?
What new books will I have? They will be more grown-up than last year’s
books.
I haven’t seen some of my friends all summer. There will be lots to talk
about. And there will be new boys and girls in my room, new friends for
me.
It will all be strange at first. But I know that soon everything will be
friendly and familiar. Soon we’ll study and do things together.
The first time I went to school I was afraid. I didn’t know how things
would be. I was shy with so many children all around me. Then I wanted
to lead in every way. But everyone can’t be first. We all learned to
take turns. I learned new things. I got used to it all.
