What about prizes?
Winning prizes is fun, but guests who don’t win a prize may be very
disappointed. Here are some ways to let everyone win a prize or a
“thank- you-for-coming” favor.
Winning Stars
Give the guests cards with their name on them. After each game, award
four stars for first place, three stars for second place, two stars for
third place, and one star to everyone else. When the games are over, set
out unwrapped prizes, one for each person. The guest with the most stars
gets first choice, and so on. The host or hostess takes the last prize.
Jack Horner Pie
Wrap a prize for each guest. Put the prizes in a big Jack Horner Pie
(see page 303). When the party is over, each guest pulls out a
“thank-you-for- coming” favor.
Piñata
Make a pihata (see page 102) and fill it with candy or small party
favors. Hang the pihata from the ceiling or from the limb of a tree.
Everyone stands in a big circle under the pihata. Blindfold one person,
give him or her a big stick, and spin him or her around and around. That
person has one minute to knock the pihata down. If he or she fails,
another guest tries. When someone knocks the pihata down, divide the
candy or favors among the children.
