Materials
crayon
needle (tapestry, darner, or crewel)
paper (plain)
ruler
scissors
yarn (several colors)
1 Plan and draw a design or picture on a piece of paper. You can
make up your own design or get ideas from pictures in magazines or
books.
2 Use a crayon to copy your design on burlap or canvas. Now look at
the different stitches shown in Helpful hints, pages 154-157. Use
some or all of these stitches to outline and fill in your design. Use as
many different colors of yarn as you like. Don\’t forget to finish off
all your sewing (see finish off, page 155).
3 If you want a fringe, pull a few threads from each edge of the
burlap.
Hang your picture on a wall or use it as a place mat.
