FUN ON WATER

In Weeki-Wacki Springs, Florida, you can be an underwater explorer and
not even get wet. The Weeki-Wacki River begins in Weeki-Wacki Springs.
You can float down the river in a paddle-wheel boat and see fish
swimming under the glass bottom of the boat. After the boat ride, you
can see an underwater show and not get wet either. You can go down into
a theater where you can watch an underwater show in the river through a
big sheet of glass that looks like a movie screen.

You can’t see an underwater show in Xochimilco, Mexico, but you can see
many small boats decorated with fresh flowers. You can float on a boat
down a canal that runs between the Floating Gardens of Lake Xochimilco.
Indians guide the boats with long poles that they shove into the water.

Long ago, the Floating Gardens really floated. Aztec Indians built the
gardens on the water with twigs and reeds covered with soil. Later, the
roots of plants grew all the way to the bottom of the lake and anchored
the Floating Gardens.

Boats decorated with flowers carry passengers through a canal to the
Floating Gardens of Lake Xochimilco. Mexico.
