Food from the water

You’re at a smorgasbord—a big Scandinavian meal— in Sweden. A long
table is filled with all kinds of fish, meat, and other food. You can
take as much as you want. You can go back for seconds and thirds!

You’re at a dinner in Japan. You are given a bowl with some thin, cold
slices of something pink in it.

But on your first trip, you should take only fish. And there’s plenty
of that—pickled herring, smoked salmon, baked halibut, and more.
People in Sweden eat lots You try a slice. It’s good! You ask your host
what it is. He smiles and tells you it’s sashimi—raw fish. People in
Japan eat lots of seafood prepared in many different ways.

In fact, almost everyone enjoys food that comes from the water. Not only
fish, but oysters, clams, crabs, lobsters, shrimps—practically
everything that swims.
