Learning from animals

Some animals are a lot like people. They can be happy or sad or angry.
They can be brave or afraid. They can learn things and solve easy
problems.

Scientists called psychologists often study these animals to learn why
they act as they do. And sometimes this helps the psychologists
understand why people act as they do. By studying the animals,
psychologists learn more about people.

Dr. Penny Patterson is using a machine to teach Koko, the gorilla, to
communicate with people.
