It’s a Reptile

Suppose you found some hard-shelled eggs lying on the ground. And
suppose that some little scaly skinned creatures hatched out of them.
What kind of animal would they be?
They could only be reptiles.
Fish have a scaly skin—but fish eggs do not have hard shells. And most
fish lay their eggs in water, not on land.
Bird eggs have hard shells, and are always laid on land—but birds
don’t have a scaly skin.
Only reptiles have a scaly skin and lay hard-shelled eggs on land.
That’s one way to tell an animal is a reptile.
Alligators, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, turtles and tuataras are
reptiles.
