People who study plants
Do you ever wonder about plants, and how they live and grow? Have you
ever taken a flower apart to see what was inside it? If you have
wondered about, or done these things, maybe someday you’ll be a
botanist!
Botanists are scientists who try to find out all about plants. The work
of botanists has given us more and better food plants. And it has helped
other scientists to make medicine and other useful things from plants.
Sometimes botanists work outdoors, and sometimes they work in
laboratories. This scientist is growing and studying plant cells.

environment.
Botanists study water plants, too. They sometimes work with other
scientists to learn which plants can be used for food.
