A Lost Snowflake
a Japanese nursery rhyme adapted by Charlotte B. DeForest
The snowflakes fell, the first this year. I caught one on my
sleeve—right here! I thought that we would play all day. But then it
melted—right away!
Two Little Sisters
a Chinese nursery rhyme adapted by Robert Wyndham
Two little sisters went walking one day, Partly for exercise, partly for
play.
They took with them kites which they wanted to fly, One a big centipede,
one a great butterfly.
Then up in a moment the kites floated high, Like dragons that seemed to
be touching the sky!
