Mother Nature mobile

Mother Nature mobile

Materials

  • flowers or leaves or both

  • sticks

  • glue (white)

  • thread

  • needle (optional)

A mobile is a group of hanging objects that move. You can make a pretty
mobile from leaves, flowers, and sticks.

  1. Collect some leaves, flowers, and sticks. Keep your leaves in a
press (see leaf press, page 135) while you are collecting them.
Press the leaves (see press, page 135). Dry the flowers (see
    dry, page 135).

  2. Sew or tie the stem of each flower and leaf to a piece of thread.
Use a needle, and a thread with a knot at the end, to sew through
each stem. Or, just tie the thread around the stems.

  3. Hang your leaves and flowers from sticks, as shown. Tie the thread
ends around the sticks. Balance each section before you add the next
    piece.

When your mobile is balanced and looks the way you want it to, dab a
little glue on the spots where the threads are fastened. This will keep
the threads from slipping.

  1. Hang your mobile from the ceiling, in an open doorway, or in some
other place where you can watch it dance in the breeze.

You can also make mobiles with sea shells, nut shells, pine cones,
acorns, and big seeds.
